‘Sangam’ - Enjoy an evening of sangam or convergence of the two Indian Classical music styles: Hindustani from the north and Carnatic from the south of India in a live music concert performed by quartet of virtuoso maestro musicians along with San Antonio’s Indian classical vocal and dance schools.
Join us at the Mahalakshmi Hall auditorium, located on the serene hills of Helotes in the Hindu Temple of San Antonio Complex (HTSA). The peaceful surroundings command a spectacular view of the Hill Country, including complimentary Indian refreshments and mesmerizing Indian classical music, vocals and dance.
Touring the country from India, we welcome J.A. Jayanth in the flute; Ramdas Palsule in the tabla; Ashwani Shankar in the shehnai and Sai Giridhar in the mrudangam. The program includes performances by the Swarajali School of Hindustani vocals directed by Rachna Bodas and Bharatanatyam dance by the students the Kaveri Natya Yoga school choreographed by Dr. Sreedhara Akkihebbalu.

Young Carnatic Flute exponent J.A.Jayant, is an artiste, collaborator, teacher and composer performing across the globe and popularizing the art of flute playing. A prodigy - having started performing at the age of 7, Flute J.A.Jayant is a young musician
of national and international repute with over 1600 solo concerts and jugalbandhi performances to his credit.
He has performed and enthralled audiences at various prestigious organizations and festivals in India and around the world including The Darbar festival - UK, Milapfest -UK, Sydney Music Festival, DUCTAC Auditorium- Dubai, Kennedy Center - Washington DC, SIRI FORT- New Delhi, Cleveland Thyagaraja Festival, Reitberg Museum- Zurich, The Madras Music Academy, Shanmukhananda hall, Sangeet Natak Akademi, ICCR to
name a few.
Flute J.A.Jayant is regarded as one of the most popular and widely respected Carnatic flautists performing and collaborating with musicians such Pt. Ronu Majumdar, Veena Rajesh Vaidhya, Mandolin U Rajesh, Guitar Prasanna, Shehnai Ashwani Shankar, Violin Nandini Shankar, Sarod Debasmitha bhattacharya, Abhishek Borkar etc.
He has several Audio CDs and DVDs to his credit.
Born in illustrious lineage of musicians of the ‘Banaras Gharana’ which has given many outstanding Musicians to the world of music, Ashwani displayed his strong affinity towards music at a very early age. His father, the internationally acclaimed Shehnai Maestro Guru Pt. Daya Shankar nurtured his son’s blooming talent and encouraged him with his personal inspiration and guidance. He also had the privilege to learn shehnai and take vocal lessons under the capable tutelage of his highly respected grandfather, the legendary shehnai virtuoso Guru Late Pt. Anant Lal disciple of thumri Samrat Guru late Pt. Mahadev Prasad Mishra of the 'Banaras Gharana'. As torch bearers of the precious Gayaki Ang (Vocal style) of the Banaras Gharana, his scintillating performances are the perfect platform to immerse
oneself in this rare vocal style as their influence of it is clearly visible. Regarded as innovators who’s efforts have widened the repertoire of shehnai manifold with the introduction of sitar’s technique and beautiful features like Jod, Jhala and building up the ragas in Dhrupad style, which shows the profound
influence and inspiration of their guru the legendary sitar maestro Pt. Ravi Shankar.
After formal training in pursuit of proficiency in the highest order in raga, taal and laya, he was awarded scholarship by Govt. of India, Dept. of Culture, for his outstanding talent in the field of music.
He also won the prestigious Sangeet Natak Academy’s Ustad Bismillah Khan “Yuva Puraskar” for the year 2010-2011 in the Hindustani Music Instrumental category and Aditya Vikram Birla Kalakiran Award in 2015.
Hailed as one of the foremost and serious young musician in the country today who is carrying the 300 years old family tradition and the art of Shehnai playing forward to a new level, Ashwani’s music represent an unparallel blend of traditional classical music with modern approach.
Sri Kuchibhotla Sai Giridhar is an 'A' grade artist of All India radio for Mridangam and is a disciple of the legendary guru Sri M.L.N.Raju and Parupalli S.Phalgun. He has travelled extensively both within India and abroad and has performed at prestigious venues and famed theatres alongside legendary artists.
Sai Giridhar has also been a part of Jugalbandhis and fusion bands with reputed classical and Hindustani musicians and has had his name featured in several CD and DVD productions.
He is also a recipient of the prestigious Sangeetha Nataka academy YUVA PURASKAR award.
Pt. Ramdas Palsule is a popular name amongst Indian Classical Music enthusiasts and has carved a niche for himself since a very young age.
Born in well-educated family in Pune, his father Shri. Gajanan Palsule was a recipient of the prestigious Kalidas Sanman President’s award for his work in Sanskrit literature and for his Sanskrit book on Veer Savarkar. An alumnus of prestigious alma – maters like Jnana Prabodhin Prashala and College of Engineering, Pune, Ramdas has a strong academic foundation. He was introduced to Tabla by Pt. G.L. Samant. Later, he became the disciple of world-famous Tabla Maestro Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. It was after achieving his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering that he chose his passion as his
profession.
Ramdas chose his passion over a beaten path and an assured successful career in engineering at the age of twenty-three and ever since has been a devout torchbearer of the illustrious tradition of Indian Classical Music. Under the capable guidance of Taalyogi Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, Ramdas, with his natural ingenuity, relentless toil and insatiable thirst for knowledge made quick strides as an acclaimed soloist and a versatile accompanist.
